Amapola Arts Studio hosts guest artists, visiting instructors, limited-run workshops, and community gatherings that bring new techniques, perspectives, and cultural traditions into our space.

These offerings may include:

  • Short-term, artist-led workshops of all mediums exploring specialized techniques, materials, and art–culture connections

  • Community-centered events such as gallery gatherings, book signings, open mics, and cultural celebrations


Workshops and events vary in schedule, price, and audience, and are offered for a limited time.

Amapola Restore: Free Creative Wellness Series

Amapola Restore is a free wellness series created in partnership with Amapola Arts Studio, Buffalo Hope COMHPS, and PARC of WNY. Held every third Friday from 3–5 PM, each session offers a different creative experience centered on reflection, emotional wellness, and the restorative power of hands-on artmaking.

This first three events include:

May 15 – Grounding & Presence


A drawing and painting experience in recognition of Mental Health Awareness Month.

June 19 – Grief & Memory


A family-focused session using movement and song to honor healing, remembrance, and connection, featuring special guest Shirley Vazquez of Wounded Healers Academy of Holistic Healing Arts. This session will also include gentle somatic healing practices focused on grounding, release, and mind-body wellness.

July 17 – Identity & Belonging


A creative writing and mixed-media experience designed for students and young adults exploring voice, identity, and community.

Identity Design: Art, Media & Self-Expression

Ages 21+ | 3-Week Series | 90 Minutes Per Session


This three-part series explores identity, creativity, and self-expression through art, storytelling, and media analysis. Participants will examine how culture, personal experiences, and popular media shape the way we see ourselves and others while developing artwork that reflects their authentic voice.

Through guided discussions, creative exercises, and hands-on artmaking, participants will explore character design as a tool for self-discovery and personal expression.

Participants will:
-Learn the fundamentals of character design and visual storytelling
-Explore cultural representation, archetypes, and stereotypes in media
- Reimagine familiar characters through new perspectives
- Create an original character that represents their boldest and most authentic self
- Develop a visual and written guide that supports continued self-expression and personal growth

No prior drawing experience is required. All materials are included. Whether you are an artist, creative thinker, or simply interested in exploring identity through art, this series offers a welcoming space for reflection, conversation, and creative expression.

Exhibit in the Garden: Chapter 5 – Art Among the Flowers

Join Amapola Arts for our 5th annual outdoor art exhibition held in our home garden as part of the Ken-Ton Garden Tour. Enjoy original artwork, meet local artists, and experience a vibrant afternoon of art, flowers, community, and creativity.

Navidad Bajo el Sol: Christmas Under the Sun

Join Amapola Arts for a festive Christmas in July celebration featuring the opening of Resilience, an artisan market showcasing Amapola Arts and studio artists, interactive art activities, music, and community. Experience the warmth of a Puerto Rican-inspired holiday gathering under the summer sun as part of Highland Plaza’s Christmas in July festivities.
